Tania Mouraud's Retrospective at CCC Tours Explores Perceptual and Cognitive Art

The Centre de création contemporaine (CCC) in Tours presents a focused exhibition of Tania Mouraud's work from November 27, 2010 to February 27, 2011. The show reconstructs key pieces such as 'Initiation room n° 2' (1970s), a white-lit chamber with a 200 Hz sound frequency, and features graphic maquettes for environmental projects from 1969, a recent video projection of a whale, and a painted wall with large block letters from the 1990s. Mouraud's early collaborations with composer Eliane Radigue, La Monte Young, Terry Riley, and Pandit Pran Nath are highlighted, emphasizing her radical approach to merging sound and vision. The exhibition includes models of utopian projects like chambers carved into rock faces. Curated by Anne Tronche, the show traces Mouraud's continuous investigation of perception and cognition since her first solo exhibition at Jean Larcade in 1970, prefaced by Pierre Restany.
