Tania Franco Klein's 'Subject Studies' Debuts in Italy at Fotografia Europea

Mexican multidisciplinary artist Tania Franco Klein (b. 1990) presents her series 'Subject Studies: CHAPTER I' for the first time in Italy, curated by Tim Clark at Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia. The exhibition is part of the 21st edition of the international festival Fotografia Europea, which runs until June 14. The series explores cultural biases by repeating identical frames—same furniture, same viewpoint, same composition—to reveal how interpretation is shaped by cultural structures. Klein's work challenges the notion of neutral observation, arguing that every image is filtered through preconceived narratives. The festival's theme, 'Fantasmi del quotidiano' (Ghosts of the Everyday), provides a fitting context for Klein's investigation of the invisible forces that condition perception.
