Tania Bruguera documents arrest injuries while protesting with Ladies in White in Havana

Cuban artist Tania Bruguera was arrested in Havana while protesting alongside the Ladies in White movement. She reported the incident on Monday through the Facebook page of her project #YoTambienExijo. Photographs shared on the platform revealed bruises sustained during her detention by officials, who also seized her passport. Bruguera explained to the PanAm Post that her participation in the demonstration was part of research for a legislative bill she is drafting. This proposed legislation aims to safeguard rights to free speech and public assembly while offering protections against political violence for protesters. The Ladies in White movement consists of women from families of imprisoned dissidents.
