Tami Izko's Porcelain Constellation at Fondazione La Raia

Bolivian artist Tami Izko (born 1984, Cochabamba) created 'Inventory', a site-specific installation for Fondazione La Raia in Novi Ligure, Italy, celebrating the foundation's tenth anniversary. The work consists of small porcelain and stoneware objects placed inside an artificial decorative grotto on the estate's entrance avenue. Izko collected natural and human-made items from the surroundings—pine cones, grape clusters, stones, shells—and transformed them into ceramic casts. The installation includes photographic and acoustic elements by Federico Clavarino and Davide Cairo. Izko, who discovered ceramics in 2018 while living in Lisbon, emphasizes the material's epidermal quality and its capacity to enclose emptiness. She embraces the gradual transformation of the ceramics by water and algae, viewing it as a sign of vitality. The foundation, established in 2013 by Giorgio Rossi Cairo and Irene Crocco with artistic direction by Ilaria Bonacossa, began its program with a work by Remo Salvadori and has featured artists such as Koo Jeong A., Michael Beutler, Cosimo Veneziano, Francesco Jodice, and Adrien Missika. Izko's practice involves collecting impressions from the environment, creating molds that function like photographic negatives, and producing works that retain traces of their original context while undergoing change.
