TAM Mendrisio Opens Three Exhibitions with Monumental Horse Sculpture
The Teatro dell’architettura Mendrisio (TAM) of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) has inaugurated three new exhibitions from May 8 to December 20, 2026, marking a new direction under director Riccardo Blumer. The centerpiece is Sleipnir e il labirinto delle porte, a monumental wooden sculpture by Duilio Forte inspired by Odin's eight-legged mythical horse, surrounded by a labyrinth of doors designed and built by students of the Atelier Forte. On the first floor, La costruzione dell’architettura in Ticino, 1939-1996. Materialità e tettonica, curated by Franz Graf with Britta Buzzi, Carlo Dusi, Alessandro Bonizzoni, and Sebastiano Verga, presents a selection of 100 buildings from 160 studied over twenty years, focusing on construction techniques and materiality of modern Ticinese architecture. It includes photographs by Roberto Conte (2025) and three reports by Radiotelevisione della Svizzera Italiana (RSI). On the second floor, Pino Musi. Continuum, curated by Michael Jakob, features black-and-white photographic scrolls exploring form, matter, and spatial perception, with three large-format works on the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral and a selection of artist's books.
