Talking Heads' 'Stop Making Sense' 4K Restoration Premieres on Sky Arte

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Sky Arte will broadcast the 4K restoration of 'Stop Making Sense', the iconic concert film directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme. The film captures the Talking Heads' legendary performance at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles in December 1983, during the tour supporting their fifth studio album 'Speaking in Tongues'. The band, consisting of David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison, performed with an ensemble of exceptional supporting musicians at the peak of their success. The 4K restoration, completed in 2024 for the film's 40th anniversary, was supervised by James Mockoski of American Zoetrope. It was distributed in Italy through a collaboration between Nexo Studios and A24, and made its Italian debut at the Festa del Cinema di Roma. The restored version features a fully remastered soundtrack curated by Jerry Harrison. The film is notable for its pure concert footage, without interviews or external commentary, focusing entirely on the performance, which has made it a benchmark in rock documentary history. The broadcast on Sky Arte marks the film's first television premiere in Italy.
