Takashi Murakami Designs Gundam-Inspired Sneakers with Removable Pouches
Takashi Murakami has designed his first-ever sneakers from scratch, the TZ BS-06, for the brand Porter. The military-style shoes are inspired by the Japanese anime Mobile Suit Gundam and feature eight small removable pouches. Murakami announced the project on Instagram, stating he managed every stage from conception to production. The sneakers are priced at 64,800 yen ($611) and are available on Tonari no Zingaro, Murakami's official online store. Previously, Murakami had collaborated with Vans in 2015 on a special collection, but this marks his first full product development. He credits feedback from fans at ComplexCon 2016 in Long Beach for encouraging him to create something more audacious.
