Taipei Biennial 2025 titled 'Whispers on the Horizon' curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath

Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath will curate the 14th Taipei Biennial, titled 'Whispers on the Horizon,' running from November 1, 2025, to March 29, 2026, at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. The curators describe the title as a poetic, open-ended concept evoking a universal feeling of yearning, inspired by Taiwan's complex historical and political context. They emphasize listening to local voices, including historians, filmmakers, and literary figures, to capture Taiwan's sense of suspension and identity questions. The exhibition will feature numerous artists under 40, with several new commissions spanning sound works, sculpture, and film, many responding to the museum's architecture. Bardaouil and Fellrath first visited Taipei for the 2014 Biennial and have since engaged deeply with local arts conversations. They selected artists based on their exploration of yearning and pursuit of completeness, aiming to foster dialogue with future generations. The commissions will interact with both indoor and outdoor spaces, transforming the museum experience. The curators highlight Taiwan's Indigenous cultures and desire for rootedness as key themes, viewing the biennial as an opportunity to learn and reflect global complexities.
