Taipei Biennial 2025 Explores Yearning and Memory Through 72 Artists

exhibition · 2026-04-20

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum has launched the 2025 Taipei Biennial, named 'Whispers on the Horizon,' which will be on display until March 29. Curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, this exhibition showcases the works of 72 artists from around the globe, along with historical pieces. At its core are three significant items: a puppet from Hou Hsiao-Hsien's film 'The Puppetmaster' (1993), a diary from Chen Yingzhen's 'My Kid Brother Kangxiang' (1960), and a bicycle from Wu Ming-Yi's 'The Stolen Bicycle' (2015). Visitors are welcomed by Henrique Oliveira's installation 'Cizania' (2025), while Shizuka Yokomizo's video 'Recipients' (2025) relates to Chen Chin's painting from 1934. Young-jun Tak features a four-film installation, exploring themes of memory, loss, and queer identity throughout the exhibition.
