Taipei Biennial 2023 'Small World' Announced

The Taipei Biennial's 13th iteration, titled 'Small World,' is set to take place at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) from 18 November 2023 to 24 March 2024. Independent curator Freya Chou, along with writer and editor Brian Kuan Wood and curator Reem Shadid, aims to turn the museum into a venue for listening, gathering, and improvisation. Their curatorial statement reflects on recent global events, highlighting a world filled with enclosures and screens, while exploring how automation can be transformed into music and new creative avenues. TFAM Director Jun-Jieh Wang emphasizes the biennial's light approach to contemporary issues, inviting reflection on personal positioning within altered temporal and spatial contexts. The CTBC Foundation for Arts and Culture continues its role as lead sponsor, following its support in 2020.
