Tadáskía Wins 2025 K21 Global Art Award
Tadáskía has been awarded the 2025 K21 Global Art Award. The Friends of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen acquired her site-specific installation "brincando animada: travesti mariposa centopeia" (animated play: travesti moth centipede, 2025). Born in Rio de Janeiro, Tadáskía works across drawing, painting, sculpture, and video, exploring transformation, self-perception, and Afro-Transgender-cosmologies. The installation comprises a semi-abstract wall drawing, a bilingual poem in German and English, and sculptures made from vegetables, fruits, liquids, bamboo, and taboa—a reed used by Afro-Indigenous communities. Tadáskía expressed gratitude for the recognition. She was selected from six nominees—Sin Wai Kin, Simon Fujiwara, Hashel Al Lamki, Celia Hempton, and Sallisa Rosa—by a jury including Doryun Chong, Omar Kholeif, Jochen Volz, and the late Koyo Kouoh.
