Syrian Filmmakers Abounaddara at 2015 Venice Biennale

exhibition · 2026-04-24

At the 56th Venice Biennale, the Syrian film collective Abounaddara presented their work in the Arsenale from May 9 to November 22, 2015. Known for releasing a new short film every Friday on Vimeo since the Syrian revolution began in March 2011, the collective's diverse styles challenge political spectacle. The artpress review (issue 424, July-August 2015, p. 88) critiques their intervention as a 'grain of sand' disrupting the biennale's political display.
