Syrian-born painter Marwan Kassab-Bachi dies at 82

Marwan Kassab-Bachi, a Syrian-born painter recognized for his figurative works, passed away at age 82. His death was reported by Art Asia Pacific. Born in Damascus in 1934, he initially pursued Arabic literature studies at Damascus University before relocating to Europe in 1957. Kassab-Bachi established himself in Berlin, where he both studied and taught painting. His artistic career included extensive exhibition activity in Germany. More recently, his work was featured in a 2014 survey exhibition at the Barjeel Foundation in Sharjah. A solo presentation of his art was also held at the Mosaic Rooms in London during 2015.
