Synthetic Scenario Generation for Industrial Agent Benchmarks
A recent study published on arXiv (2607.22563) presents a method for creating synthetic evaluation scenarios tailored for industrial agents. The researchers enhance AssetOpsBench by adding a Smart Grid Transformer asset class along with four diagnostic tools based on IEC standards: health-index prediction, dissolved-gas analysis, winding-temperature assessment, and load-profile evaluation. They introduce the ScenarioGeneratorAgent, which develops evidence-based asset profiles, distributes coverage-aware scenario budgets across various operational areas, and generates candidates using a hybrid validation-and-repair loop. This process ensures schema validity, tool accessibility, physical plausibility, adherence to standards, and eliminates duplicates. The objective of this work is to address the shortcomings of manually created scenarios in current benchmarks.
