Symposium on Art Publications: Cultural, Social, and Political Uses
UNIA arteypensamiento and I+CAS, in collaboration with Pablo Lafuente (Afterall), Pauline van Mourik Broekman (Mute), and Joaquín Vázquez (BNV Producciones), will host a four-day symposium titled 'Publications on (not only) Art: Cultural, Social and Political uses'. The event aims to explore current editorial activity in art and the arts, addressing the diversification and fragmentation of the art public alongside maturity in digital distribution and proliferation of research in artistic contexts. The first part covers print publications, examining the history of six international art magazines and four publishing projects recently launched by Spanish government-run museums and arts centres. The second part focuses on online publishing proposals, using case studies of projects with broad media influence and those implementing new web strategies.
