Symposium Explores Periodicals' Role in Asian Art History

From January 11 to 13, 2017, Asia Art Archive, in partnership with The University of Hong Kong's Department of Fine Arts, hosted a three-day symposium entitled 'It Begins With a Story: Artists, Writers, and Periodicals in Asia.' This gathering focused on the role of periodicals in stimulating discussions about art and new visual expressions in twentieth-century Asia. Notable speakers included Charles Esche, co-founder of Afterall, Phoebe Scott, a curator from the National Gallery Singapore, and independent critic and curator LI Xianting from Beijing.
