Sylvia Sleigh's The Bridge resurfaces in London after 20 years
Daniel Malarkey is staging the first commercial solo exhibition of Sylvia Sleigh in the UK in over six decades. The show marks the 110th anniversary of the artist's birth and follows SF MOMA's acquisition of a major work by Sleigh earlier this year. It brings together paintings spanning her career, including her earliest known self-portrait (1941), still lifes, a landscape, and additional portraits. The centerpiece is The Bridge (1963), a reclining nude not publicly exhibited in 20 years, exemplifying her engagement with portraiture and the historical nude. The exhibition includes many works from Sleigh's estate.
