At La Laiterie in Strasbourg, a collaborative exhibition featuring sculptors Sylvain Chartier and Gérard Starck alongside photographer Pierre Uhrich ran from April 5 to June 9, 2002. Starck embedded four large concave thermoformed mirrors in the walls, reflecting inverted images of sculptures and visitors, creating disorienting anamorphic effects that challenge perception and require active viewer participation. A corridor encircles the central space, displaying Uhrich's photos of the sculptures' fabrication and presentation, with doors on each side offering varied viewpoints. The exhibition, conceived over two years, results from close collaboration where each artist's intuitions symmetrically respond to the other's. The catoptric devices—mirrors with anamorphic distortions—reference philosophical instruments that have historically shaped worldviews. The installation establishes an enigmatic, mobile, and plastic relationship between works, space, and spectators.
