Swiss Dance Days 2026 to Showcase 13 Contemporary Choreographies in Bern

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Swiss Dance Days, the biennial platform for Swiss professional dance, will take place in Bern from February 11 to 14, 2026. The event presents a curated selection of the best contemporary choreographic productions from across Switzerland, featuring performances, workshops, and meetings in theaters, production centers, and schools dedicated to contemporary performing arts. Founded in 1996, inspired by the Rencontres chorégraphiques de Seine-Saint-Denis in Paris, Swiss Dance Days has been co-organized since 2006 by Reso – Dance Network Switzerland, a network uniting independent and institutional organizers. The event rotates among Swiss cities including Geneva, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Lugano, Lucerne, and Zurich. This year's jury—composed of Pascale "Baba" Altenburger (Bern), Lorenzo Conti (Lugano/Milan), Lisa Letnansky (Zurich), Léo Chavaz (Geneva), and Brandy Butler (Zurich)—selected 13 high-quality, inspiring choreographies from 198 applicants. The program transcends genre boundaries, celebrating street and club styles, and includes "fulminating theatrical productions and intimate solos, site-specific interventions in public spaces and powerful ensemble pieces," according to the jury. It covers a wide range of styles from contemporary explorations to Congolese dance and dancehall, reflecting the richness and diversity of the Swiss dance scene.
