Swiss Dance Days 2019: A Platform for Contemporary Choreography

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

In February 2019, Lausanne hosted the Swiss Dance Days, a dynamic four-day celebration of contemporary Swiss dance. Fifteen choreographers were selected from a pool of 150 submissions by a panel featuring notable figures such as Vincent Baudriller and Catja Loepfe. Among the standout performances was 'Private Song' by Alexandra Bachzetsis, which delved into transidentity set against Greek rebetiko music. Yasmine Hugonnet's 'Se Sentir Vivant' creatively fused ventriloquism with self-awareness. Additionally, Cindy Van Acker's 'Speechless Voices' paid tribute to composer Mika Vainio, highlighted by set designs from Michaël Borremans. The event attracted significant attention from acclaimed curators worldwide.
