Swedish Design Museum: Virtual Platform Celebrates Nordic Creativity

digital · 2026-05-05

Visit Sweden has introduced a new digital initiative, the Swedish Design Museum (www.swedishdesignmuseum.com), which serves as a virtual space to honor Swedish design as a reflection of the nation’s culture and lifestyle. This platform was created by a collaborative team of architects, curators, and journalists alongside Architects Sweden, ASFB-Association of Swedish Fashion Brands, the Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture (TMF), and Svensk Form (Swedish Society of Crafts and Design). Although it lacks a physical collection, it aims to engage a global audience. Its first exhibit, Live from Sweden, showcases architectural designs, fashion labels, and everyday objects through images and brief videos. Notable features include the Thule Glide stroller, Gert Wingårdh’s eco-friendly Strandparken residence, Hope’s gender-neutral clothing under Frida Bard’s direction, and Back line garments designed for Arctic visibility. This platform enhances the offerings of physical museums in Stockholm, such as ArkDes, Nationalmuseum, and Nordiska museet.
