Swatch Art Peace Hotel Celebrates 10 Years with Exhibition at MAXXI

The MAXXI museum in Rome is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel residency with an exhibition that opens on October 1, 2021, in the Gian Ferrari room. This exhibition showcases twenty pieces created by artists who have participated in the Shanghai-based residency since its inception in 2013, including notable names like Eva Borner, Luca Bray, and Paolo Cavinato. Additionally, a video art segment will be unveiled on October 6, 13, and 20, featuring Lei Lei and others. Since its launch in 2011, the residency has welcomed over 400 artists from 54 nations. Swatch CEO Carlo Giordanetti describes the residency as a platform for creative project proposals, noting that most current artists are Chinese, with a few exceptions. Swatch's art collaborations date back to 1985, resulting in more than 10,000 watch designs.
