architecture-design · 2026-05-13

The School of Visual Arts (SVA) Interior Design: Built Environments 2026 Thesis Showcase presents student projects focused on adaptive reuse and resilience. Among the featured works is 'Hydrologic Sequence' by Jackson Zerrer, which transforms an abandoned quarry in Lambertville, New Jersey, into flood-management infrastructure for the Delaware River. Other projects include 'ReLoop' by Han Le, a food rescue hub near Union Square Greenmarket in New York City that redirects surplus produce to food-insecure communities, and 'Common Ground' by Fanyu Wu, a bamboo bridge and cultural hub in Yuhang, China. The showcase also includes 'City within the Monolith' by Bin Seungbin Jeong, reimagining the Manhattan Mall; 'Exhibition – X' by Jesse Bongiorno, an adaptive ecosystem near Jamaica Bay; 'Folly Farm' by Emmy Flemmen, an artist retreat near Boulder, Colorado; 'Block-Party' by Jisoo Lee, a sports-centered superblock in Gowanus, Brooklyn; 'Coexist' by Jiun Lee, intergenerational hubs in South Korea; 'Courrèges' by Yuri Lim, a flagship store in Seoul; and 'The Care Loop' by Hyunwoo Seo, a laundromat-based community hub. Instructors Anthony Lee and Gita Nandan led the Interior Thesis Studio course.
