Sutyo's electrochromic sunglasses shift color and tint with a swipe
Austin-based eyewear brand Sutyo has launched the Sutyo Lens System, a pair of smart sunglasses that use electrochromic technology to change lens color and opacity via a touch-sensitive temple. A single slide shifts between two hues and modulates light from Cat. 1 to Cat. 3. The frames are made from hand-polished bio-based nylon derived from castor bean seeds grown in India, and are recyclable through the Virtucycle program. The design conceals advanced electronics within a classic silhouette, avoiding the overt aesthetics of typical wearables. The glasses offer UV400 protection, IPX4 weather resistance, and up to ten days of battery life. They can also be fitted with prescription lenses. Sutyo has won the 2026 A' Design Award, iF Design Award, and IDA Design Award Gold 2025.
