Suspicious Object on German Rail Tracks Not Explosive, Police Say

On Thursday, German authorities reported that a suspicious item found on train tracks in Treuchtlingen, Bavaria, was not explosive, alleviating earlier concerns. The discovery, made in the town's southern area, led to the evacuation of nearby structures earlier that same day. To ensure safety, a robot was utilized to relocate the object, and experts conducted X-ray examinations before securing the site. Residents were urged to steer clear of the area. This event follows a recent drone attack attempt at Leipzig airport in eastern Germany, where an explosive-laden drone was discovered near a runway, raising national security alarms. Treuchtlingen, home to roughly 12,000 people, is situated 150 kilometers (93 miles) northwest of Munich. Updates were shared by police on social media, and Federal Police special forces were dispatched to investigate the item.
