Suspended neon 'True Gravity' installation at The Rockwell Museum

exhibition · 2026-04-29

The Rockwell Museum, affiliated with the Smithsonian, has introduced 'True Gravity,' the newest addition to its Antigravity series. This installation, crafted by neon artists and She Bends Studios founders, was designed by Kelsey Issel under the mentorship of Meryl Pataky. Located in the historic rotunda of the Museum, the piece delves into the interplay of glass, light, and the delicate forces that influence shape. Visitors can experience it until March 2027 in the entryway on the first floor. She Bends serves as a neon organization and teaching studio, focusing on the art and craft of neon while emphasizing the work of women and gender-expansive artists who manipulate glass and challenge the material's limits.
