Supervulcanos Group Show at Tarsia, Naples

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The group exhibition 'Supervulcanos' opened at Tarsia, a non-profit space in Naples' Montesanto district, housed within a flower shop. Featuring artists Andrea Kvas, Irina Lotarevich, Leena Lübbe, and Anna Schachinger, with texts by Francesca Blandino, the show explores the Dionysian energy of Stromboli volcano. The venue, an underground space carved into tuff stone (material from Vesuvius eruptions), was inaugurated in November 2018 by artist and surgeon Antonio Della Corte, who proposed the art program to brothers Antonio and Ciro Molisso, the fruit sellers who own the shop. Della Corte, who debuted in 2015 with a group show in Copenhagen organized by Rendezvous Curators, followed by exhibitions at Benoni Gallery (2015), House of Art and Design Holstebro (2017), and Sort, Vienna (2018), and a solo project at Una Vetrina in Rome (2017), describes Tarsia as the opposite of a white cube, attracting artists tired of sterile spaces. The space is open daily 8am-8pm except Thursday afternoons and Sundays, aligning with the commercial activity. The exhibition aims to foster inclusivity, engaging local residents who visit the flower shop. Della Corte emphasizes the enriching dialogue with the Molisso brothers, whom he accompanies to the plant market at 4am. The show runs in 2019.
