Supervoid's Aluminum Library Pavilion for Premio Strega Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-05-27

Studio Supervoid has designed a movable exhibition pavilion for 'Uno, Cinque, Dodici. Ottant’anni del Premio Strega,' celebrating 80 years of Italy's Premio Strega literary prize. The aluminum structure functions as a room within a room, displaying over 1,000 winning and shortlisted books from 1947 to the present. Interactive windows allow visitors to open the pavilion's facades, revealing changing configurations. The exterior is an abstract shell with book covers emerging from aluminum surfaces, while the interior evokes domestic settings with textile surfaces and colors referencing the prize's origins. The exhibition traces the prize's history, including events, controversies, and media narratives across 79 editions. The project was conceived by Fondazione Bellonci e Strega, supported by Rome's cultural department and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, with partners BPER Banca, Persol, and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. Photographs by Louis De Belle.
