Supervoid: giovani architetti romani tra Biennale e riqualificazione

Benjamin Gallegos Gabilondo (born in Santiago del Cile, 1988) and Marco Provinciali (born in Rome, 1988), who established Supervoid in 2016 in Rome, are graduates of IUAV in Venice. They have undertaken projects in both Italy and the United States. Currently, they are focused on the redevelopment of the Tenuta della Mistica in Rome and the renovation of the Punta Spadillo lighthouse in Pantelleria (Valore Paese – Fari). They showcased their work at the Venice Biennale in 2014 and 2016 and are now preparing the EU Pavilion in Venice for spring 2019, collaborating with Anna Livia Friel (IUAV) on a research project exploring the relationship between European institutions and architecture. In 2018, they completed the Garden Pavilion at the Certosa di Pontignano (Siena). They criticize the Ferrara case (2019) as an instance of shortsighted preservation and note few positive initiatives in Rome, such as CAMPO. Upcoming events in 2019 include a conference on February 13 at the British School at Rome (Brave New World), a presentation at the Centro Studi Giorgio Muratore, participation in CROSS/I at INARCH Lazio, and the Remix project at the Politecnico di Milano. They are also working on an apartment renovation in Milan and a workshop for jeweler Maria Riccardi Cochrane in Trastevere.
