SUPERNOVA: New Art District Launches in Bologna During Art City 2025

A new art district called SUPERNOVA has formed in Bologna's historic center, uniting galleries, artist studios, and creative spaces around the Torresotto di Via Porta Nova. The district officially launches during Art City 2025, coinciding with Arte Fiera (February 7–9, 2025). Founding members include BoA Spazio Arte, Bonobolabo + Magazzeeno Art Gaze, Onirica, Portanova12 (with over 15 years of activity), cocktail bar and exhibition space Elektrobau, film production company Tiro Production, and record store Lupus Records. The district's manifesto aims to consolidate and valorize Bologna's artistic heritage, creating a hub for contemporary art research and experimentation. During Art City 2025, each space will host exhibitions and events, with a coordinated program on the White Night of February 8 featuring special signage, music, and DJ sets. Highlights include Stefano Fiorina's solo show at Magazzeno Art Gaze, the group exhibition 'Art Sound Loud' at Tiro Production (23 artists, exploring visual art and music via headphones), 'Other's cities / Le città degli altri' at Onirica (selected via a call on gentrification and overtourism), Flavia Bucci's solo show 'Che cosa sono le nuvole?' at BoA Spazio Arte, and Miles' solo show 'Sentomologia' at Portanova12. Elektrobau will host a concert by Aldo Betto of Savana Funk on February 5 and display works from district galleries. The district plans year-round events spanning visual and performing arts, music, and design.
