publication · 2026-04-26

Panini Comics has released "Superman: Inferno," a comic book that sends Superman to Hell in a story inspired by Dante Alighieri. The plot begins in 2021 when Clark Kent and Lois Lane are in Florence for the 700th anniversary of Dante's death. Suddenly, the ground opens and Lois is swallowed into a chasm leading to Hell. Superman must defeat Lucifer's armies using a lost Dantean formula. The comic is written by Marco Nucci and illustrated by Fabio Celoni, two Italian talents. It was conceived as part of the international anthology "Superman: Il mondo," a 208-page volume featuring original stories celebrating the character created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster from diverse cultural perspectives. "Superman: Inferno" was released on June 25, 2025, and is available in two versions: with and without lettering. The book includes a rich section of sketches and preparatory drawings, as well as interviews where the authors guide the public inside the project.
