SuperDesign Show 2016: White Pages Focuses on Far East Design

The second edition of SuperDesign Show, curated by Gisella Borioli with artistic direction by architect Carolina Nisivoccia, took place in Milan's Tortona District under the theme 'White Pages.' The 17,000 sqm venue included lounges, meeting rooms, a press office, gardens, and restaurants. Illustrator Sandro Fabbri created common area artworks. Highlights included Barovier&Toso and Paola Navone's exploration of glass colors, Citizen's installation using over 100,000 watch components, and AGC Asahi Glass's innovative glass concepts. A major feature was 'Cina Doc,' a pavilion dedicated to Chinese design by Red Star Macalline, showcasing top Chinese designers and companies. Borioli emphasized the potential of Chinese design, noting its global influence. The show also included 'Lazio Creativo: Itinerari di Design' from the Lazio Region, focusing on wellness, tableware, and outdoor design. The Materials Village by Material ConneXion Italia featured Stefano Boeri for 3M with a sustainable installation, plus Gore-Tex and LG Hausys collaborations with Alessandro Mendini, Stefano Giovannoni, Karim Rashid, Marcel Wanders, and Ben van Berkel. The Selected Objects area presented new design pieces from international talents, including Pietro Travaglini's lamps with photographer Giovanni Gastel. Brands like Jaguar, Pepsico, Maria Cristina Carlini, and Mario Cucinella participated with workshops and events.
