Superbudda's Retroazione at Fondazione Merz Seeks Public Video Submissions
The musical collective Superbudda launches Retroazione, a multimedia project at Fondazione Merz in Turin, supported by Compagnia di San Paolo through the Ora! grant and curated by Olga Gambari. The immersive installation features six large screens and six audio speakers in the museum's basement, generating a constantly evolving audio-visual magma that interacts with the public in real time. Audience members contribute by uploading vertical videos (max 30 seconds, 120 MB) to a dedicated portal, which are then processed by an algorithm based on fluid dynamics laws for visual mixing and a sound system that tracks motion in the footage, guided by a score blending classical, jazz, and electronic music. The portal is open until September 16, 2018, and the final work will be presented on September 11 at Fondazione Merz. That evening, a performance will transform the foundation's square into a live installation with Superbudda, artists MASBEDO (Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni) and Alessandro Sciaraffa, projecting video processed through the same Retroazione system. The project redefines authorship by making the public co-creators, reflecting on the multiplicity of technologies and interconnected content in contemporary art.
