Superblast 2022: 6 Artists Win Residencies at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence
The second edition of Superblast, a residency program organized by NAM-Not a Museum at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, has announced its six winners: Irene Adorni, Roberto Fassone, Beatrice Favaretto, Lorenzo Lunghi, MERZBAU, and Davide Sgambaro. Selected by a jury including Andrea Lissoni (Haus der Kunst, Munich), Elena Magini (Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato), Caterina Molteni (MAMbo, Bologna), and Chiara Parisi (Centre Pompidou, Metz), the artists will each receive €5,000 for production, a workspace, and accommodation. The residency runs from May to July 2022, starting with a three-day workshop (May 4–6) exploring the site and context with notable guests. Open Studios on June 30 will allow the public to engage with the artists. The projects, investigating the theme of human action as a trace, will culminate in a group exhibition in September 2022 and a publication by NERO Editions. The initiative received numerous applications, reflecting on questions of past and future coexistence, learning from crisis and collapse, and legacy for future generations.
