Super Sunglasses Turns 10, Collaborates with ECAL on Limited Edition

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Super Sunglasses, founded in Milan in 2007 by Daniel Beckerman, celebrates its 10th anniversary with a collaboration with ECAL, the University of Art and Design in Lausanne. Known for its pop, unconventional models and affordable prices, the brand's unique Tuttolente model features Zeiss lenses. For the anniversary, Super partnered with ECAL's Master of Advanced Studies Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship, led by British designer Bethan Laura Wood. Students researched Super's models, materials, and colors, producing reinterpretations of the eyewear. The winning project, 'Antiquity' by Savvas Laz, customizes the Ilaria model with ancient Roman and Greek motifs. Beckerman stated that the collaboration aimed to find a celebratory design, and the laurel-adorned Ilaria stood out for its iconic form and simple narrative. The limited-edition glasses will be produced, embodying Italian culture and the brand's ethos combined with Swiss innovation, exemplifying a successful industry-academia partnership.
