Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adds Rome track with real monuments

Nintendo has released a new track for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe called Roma Romantica (Roma Avanti in English), which features a scaled-down representation of Rome's monuments arranged in geographically accurate positions. The track includes landmarks such as the Colosseum, Imperial Fora, Arch of Septimius Severus, Piazza del Campidoglio, Campo de' Fiori with Giordano Bruno's monument, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo, Via del Corso, Vittoriano, Piazza di Spagna with the Barcaccia fountain, Trinità dei Monti staircase, Villa Borghese with the Temple of Aesculapius, Trevi Fountain, and Trajan's Markets. The race begins and ends on Via del Corso, with three laps following different routes through the city. The track was originally introduced in the mobile game Mario Kart Tour during summer 2023, alongside similar city tracks for Paris, Tokyo, New York, and Madrid. Roma Romantica is part of the Acorn Cup in the sixth wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, available as paid DLC or through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. The track features obstacles and enemies from the Super Mario series, such as Chain Chomps in the Colosseum, and spectators from the Mushroom Kingdom line the streets.
