Super Festival delle Periferie: Milan's Suburbs Take Center Stage

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

After three years of research by the multidisciplinary collective TumbTumb, the Super project culminates in a first-ever festival celebrating Milan's peripheries. The event, inaugurated by Mayor Giuseppe Sala on October 14, 2018, features ten projects ranging from a seed library (Circolo Semi Milano) to a 100-kilometer bike ride (SuperMi100). Highlights include a performance by Human Symphony with original music by Giuseppe Califano, a participatory installation by Corps Citoyen, and a map of the 90/91 trolleybus line created by artists Veniero Rizzardi, Giampiero Sanguigni, Giuseppe De Mattia, and Bianca Asmara Curti. The festival also hosts talks with Stefano Belisari (Elio e le Storie Tese), Davide Toffolo (Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti), and Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours). Projects address urban agriculture, literature in private courtyards, photography workshops, and codesign for public space furniture. The initiative aims to reframe suburbs as hubs of identity and community.
