Sundance Film Festival Establishes Boulder Operations with Key Hires and Venue Preparations

For its 2027 edition, the Sundance Film Festival is relocating from Park City, Utah, to Boulder, Colorado. The festival has appointed Paula Dupré Pesmen, an Oscar-nominated producer and resident of Boulder, as the new managing director. Currently, ten Sundance staff members are situated in Colorado, with aspirations to draw two-thirds of participants from the state. In March, Sundance showcased 75 industry professionals across 13 screening locations, including three at the University of Colorado Boulder. To address accommodation issues, partnerships have been established for negotiated rates, and a lodging portal will launch on May 4. Additionally, Sundance plans to secure $10 million for venue improvements, with community events slated for July and August 2024, alongside collaborations with local organizations.
