Summer Reading Recommendations from Art Review Editors Feature Six New Publications

Art Review editors have selected six books for summer reading. Miranda July's second novel 'All Fours' follows a woman's journey from Los Angeles, coinciding with her retrospective 'New Society' at Fondazione Prada in Milan. Jiaming Tang's debut 'Cinema Love' explores queer relationships in 1980s China through a Mawei City Workers' Cinema, following characters to New York's Chinatown. Yoko Ogawa's 'Mina's Matchbox', translated from its 2006 original, presents childhood memories in a German-Japanese family during an Olympic summer marked by political violence. Sirui Ma's 'Subway Portraits' documents New York City MTA conductors through 60 photographs, featuring texts by Hua Hsu and artwork by Leon Xu. Eley Williams returns with short story collection 'Moderate to Poor, Occasionally Good' after her 2019 novel 'The Liars Dictionary'. Yoko Tawada's 'Paul Celan and the Trans-Tibetan Angel', her eleventh English translation, follows a Berlin-based scholar obsessed with poet Paul Celan. The books span publishers including Canongate, John Murray, Harvill Secker, Keure, Fourth Estate, and New Directions.
