Summer Dance Festival Reportage: New Works by Marilungo, Galli, Cosimi, Di Stefano

Francesco Marilungo's 'Party Girl' premiered at Kilowatt Festival in Sansepolcro, featuring Alice Raffaelli, Roberta Racis, and Barbara Novati, with a real-time composition exploring themes of seduction and exploitation. Nicola Galli presented 'Il mondo altrove' as both a urban action and a stage piece, the latter criticized for colonialist undertones despite beautiful music by Scelsi. Enzo Cosimi's 'Coefore Rock & Roll' at Sansepolcro, inspired by Mike Kelley, offered a didactic yet poetic take on Aeschylus' matricide myth, with Lady Maru live and dramaturgy by Mariapaola Zedda. Michele Di Stefano's 'Bayadère. Il regno delle ombre' for Nuovo Balletto di Toscana at Teatro Comunale di Vicenza disappointed, with awkward Petipa citations and a clichéd sensual pose, despite strong performances and music by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch.
