Summer Comics Roundup: New Releases from Moreau, Brualdi, Gerasi, and Fumettibrutti

A roundup of notable comic book releases for late summer 2021 features works by Jérémie Moreau, Guido Brualdi, Sergio Gerasi, and the duo Fumettibrutti and Joe1. Moreau's 'Penss e le pieghe del mondo' (Tunué, 2021, €25.65) follows a prehistoric hunter who rejects violence for philosophical contemplation of nature; it won Best Book at the Angoulême Festival in 2018 for his earlier 'La saga di Grimr'. Guido Brualdi's 'Stagione' (BD Edizioni, 2021, €13) is a lighthearted tale of seasonal love set in the Italian province, drawn with thick lines. Sergio Gerasi's 'L’Aida' (Bao Publishing, 2021, €19) centers on a wealthy young woman drawn into 'The Virus', an artistic collective staging illegal urban interventions in Milan that critique social media; the book includes a parody of Maurizio Cattelan's middle finger sculpture in Piazza degli Affari. 'CenerentolA' (Feltrinelli Comics, 2021, €16) by Fumettibrutti and Joe1 offers a punk revision of Cinderella: the fairy godmother is a transgender activist, the cat Lucifero speaks with Satan, and stepsisters Anastasia and Genoveffa form a sorority with Cinderella, who refuses the prince. All books were published in Milan in 2021.
