Summer Art and Culture in Carrara: Canova Exhibition and Open Studios

Carrara, a UNESCO Creative City for Arts and Crafts, offers a summer program blending art, culture, and gastronomy. The city hosts two major exhibitions: 'Canova. Il viaggio a Carrara' at Villa Fabbricotti, documenting Antonio Canova's visits to select marble for his Neoclassical sculptures, featuring five original plaster casts from the Accademia di Belle Arti and the Gipsoteca di Possagno, along with multimedia displays and newly discovered letters from Canova to Marchese Sarteschi. The second exhibition, 'Carrara Studi Aperti WIP @ CAP' at the CAP museum, showcases over 200 artists working in design, graphics, photography, and ceramics, with around 80 studios open to the public on August 30, 31, and September 1, 2019.
