Summer 2026 Exhibitions Across Houston Institutions
Multiple Houston-area museums and art centers will open new exhibitions in summer 2026. At Art League Houston, Marisol Valencia presents "No Longer, Not Yet" using ixtle fiber and migrant shelter linens, while Juvana Soliven debuts her first Texas solo show "Subject to Surviving" with beadwork critiquing patriarchal control. Both open May 15. The Houston Center for Photography features Simon Silva's "Madre Patria" documenting his family's volunteer work in Oaxaca, opening May 21. CAMH launches its first survey of Mary Ellen Carroll, "How To Talk Dirty and Influence People," referencing Lenny Bruce, on May 22. Moody Center for the Arts hosts Masako Miki's first Texas exhibition, "Shapeshifters, Sprites, and Spirits," with yōkai-inspired installations opening May 29. Houston Center for Contemporary Craft presents Jeff Forster's "Sanctuary for Salvage," monumental ceramic columns from recycled materials, curated by Zaynab Hilal, opening May 30. Blaffer Art Museum launches its Artists in Research initiative with Erika Blumenfeld developing "Sky Stone Cycle" using ground meteorites as pigment, June 2 to August 1. Lawndale's "The Big Show 2026" juried by Valerie Cassel Oliver runs June 12 to August 15. Galveston Art Center opens Komie Kim Le's "All-You-Can-Eat" ceramic works and Jasmine Zelaya's "Tropical Depression" on June 13. DiverseWorks presents Jesus Benavente's "NUESTROWORLD," a satirical amusement park referencing Selena and Texas history, from August 1 to September 30.
