Summer 2025 Art Guide: Valle d'Aosta Exhibitions from Picasso to Pistoletto
Valle d'Aosta's summer 2025 art season features at least three major exhibitions: Picasso at Museo Archeologico Regionale in Aosta (until Oct 19), Brassaï at Centro Saint Bénin in Aosta (until Nov 9), and Michelangelo Pistoletto at Castello Gamba in Chatillon (until Sep 28). The Picasso show explores his Mediterranean cultural roots, including Phoenician, Roman, and Arab influences, and features ceramics, drawings, and a section on dance. Brassaï's exhibition includes over 150 pieces—photographs, documents, objects, and sculptures—offering an immersive view of Parisian nightlife and early street art, with a focus on his relationship with Dubuffet. Pistoletto's 'Glacial threads' project uses sustainable cellulose fiber to protect glaciers, presenting works like 'Metamorfosi' and 'Mela reintegrata', plus the 'Terzo Paradiso' symbol. At Forte di Bard, four shows run: 'Street Art Revolution' (until Nov 2) featuring Banksy, Obey, JR, and others; 'Stele' by Donato Savin (until Dec 31); Davide Camisasca's 'Terre Bianche' (until Sep 28); and 'Attraverso il bianco' (until Sep 21). At Skyway Monte Bianco in Courmayeur, Silvia De Bastiani exhibits watercolors (until Sep 30). In Val Ferret, Henrik Håkansson's 'There is a Butterfly on top of the Mountain' (until Aug 24) at Pra Sec barns, presented by Galleria Franco Noero, addresses climate change through butterfly works.
