Sukaina Kubba’s First UK Solo Exhibition at DCA
Sukaina Kubba is unveiling her inaugural solo exhibition at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA). This multidisciplinary artist's portfolio encompasses drawing, painting, printmaking, and installation, emphasizing both material and cultural exploration. The exhibition includes previously created pieces as well as new works commissioned during her residency at DCA Print Studio in January 2024, where she explored Scottish textile collections. The fresh prints incorporate techniques such as paper pulp casting, embossing, and screen printing using DCA’s large-format press. Featured in Gallery 1 is Corners of Your Sky, which draws inspiration from an Iranian Senneh rug and includes drawings, embroidery, and 3D-printed sculptures. Accompanying the exhibition is a publication featuring writings by Swapnaa Tamhane and Daisy Lafarge, and Kubba will return for a limited edition.
