Sue Nyathi's 'The Polygamist' Netflix Adaptation Sparks Global Conversation

Sue Nyathi, a Zimbabwean writer, saw her first novel, 'The Polygamist,' transformed into a Netflix series that has quickly climbed into the top 10 most-watched shows in more than 60 countries, even reaching the second spot in the United States. Taraji P. Henson, a Hollywood star, watched all 22 episodes in just one day. Originally self-published in 2012 after facing rejections, the novel narrates Joyce's journey as she learns her husband Jonasi has taken three additional wives. After nearly 20 years in finance, she began writing full-time at 40 and is now working on a historical novel, emphasizing the financial challenges faced by African authors and the visibility provided by platforms like Netflix.
