StudioKP2's Cherokee House: A Monumental Concrete Oasis in Miami Beach

Colombian architect Karlos Perez and his practice StudioKP2, in collaboration with Corradi Group, have completed Cherokee House, a luxurious minimalist residence on Cherokee Street in Miami Beach. The project pays tribute to the cultural heritage of the people the street name represents. The house features opaque, geometric concrete volumes that contrast with dramatic, open interiors. The design comprises two blocky concrete elements connected by a lighter, glazed volume, with materials like wood, stainless steel, and stone creating a seamless flow between interior and exterior. The street facade is mysterious with few openings, but inside, expansive glazing connects living areas to a surrounding garden. The ground floor is dedicated to entertaining, with a living room and kitchen flowing together, while upstairs are three bedrooms, including a primary suite with a walk-in wardrobe. A wide, sculptural staircase serves as a central feature. Responding to Miami's subtropical climate, the home maximizes terraces and indoor/outdoor living, including shaded open-air spaces and a swimming pool. Perez aims to invoke admiration and awe, and neighbors have already praised the house as a masterpiece.
