Studio Vural renovates West Village loft with 'pods in a box'
In Brooklyn's West Village, Studio Vural has completed a striking renovation of a loft in a historical herring canning factory on Barrow Street. The 1,500-square-foot space, originally redesigned into co-op units in the late 1980s by Cy Winthrop, boasts vibrant green accents and an innovative 'pods in a box' layout. The firm preserved the original concrete columns, beams, and sections of parquet flooring while updating the design. The loft now features three adaptable bedrooms, a home office, a reading loft, and a kitchen with oak millwork, complemented by green-tiled bathrooms adorned with brass fixtures. The project involved a talented team, including Selim Vural and Kerry Robertson, with photography by Kate Glicksberg.
