Studio Passarelli's Convitto San Tommaso D'Aquino in Rome Opens for Open House Roma
During Open House Roma, the Convitto Internazionale San Tommaso D'Aquino, crafted by Studio Passarelli, was inaugurated in the Rione Monti area of Rome. In the 1960s, the Dominican Fathers of the Angelicum acquired a 16th-century palazzetto to establish an international seminary boarding house. Studio Passarelli, which has its roots in the late 19th century, carried out the construction between 1963 and 1964. The exterior of the palazzetto was meticulously restored to maintain its historical look, while the interior features a chapel with a mushroom-shaped reinforced concrete tribune. Notable design aspects include the use of understated materials and thoughtful lighting. A staircase provides access to a roof garden with new seminary accommodations. This project is featured in Controspazio, Fede e Arte, among other publications.
