Studio Museum in Harlem Opens “Fade,” Sixth Edition of Landmark “F” Series
“Fade,” the sixth installment of the “F” exhibition series, has debuted at the Studio Museum in Harlem and will be on display until September 6th. This series commenced with “Freestyle” in 2001 and has since included “Frequency” (2005–06), “Flow” (2008), “Fore” (2012–13), and “Fictions” (2017–18). Curators Adria Gunter, Yelena Keller, Jayson Overby Jr., Kiki Teshome, and Habiba Hopson have assembled works from 17 emerging Black artists, such as Turiya Adkins and Harlan Bozeman. The exhibition delves into themes like spirituality, non-linear time, grief, memory, and resistance across various forms. Chief Program Officer Natasha Logan highlighted the importance of revisiting this series, with “Fade” symbolizing both disappearance and emergence.
